The Great Reading Challenge Day 65 September 3

Morning everyone, The other day I watched the new Witcher animated movie on Netflix and it was awesome. If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend you check it out. The animation is smooth and the action exciting. The plot fits nicely with the world and is in no way lame or preachy. All in all I’d say it was one of the best things I’ve watched on Netflix in awhile. As for the day, I got a bunch of odds and ends taken care of. None of it major, but all of it important. The weather here has Read more…

Echo Burning Review

My Review of Echo Burning by Lee Child Click Play to listen or scroll down to read     Hello everyone, I just finished the novel Echo Burning by Lee Child. It’s part of his Jack Reacher thriller series. This is the first book I’ve finished for a reading challenge I started last week. The goal is to read 50 pages a day. If you’re interested you can follow the daily posts on my blog, link in the description. I’m sure I won’t reach my target everyday, but I aim to try. I’ll also be reviewing each book as I Read more…

Friday Book Recommendation 8

Hello Everyone,   Today’s recommendation is going to be something a little different. I don’t know how many of you enjoy reading translated Japanese light novels, but some of them can be hard to find for sale. If you don’t mind reading a slightly sketchy translation, you can mind many books on Baka-tsuki.org. They only publish translations that aren’t available for sale in the US and if one of their translations becomes available they take the free copy down. It’s one of the things I really like about the site. I’m happy to pay for books I want to read, Read more…

Friday Book Recommendation 7

Hello everyone,   Since we’ve been talking all about fiction here, I thought I change it up and discuss a nonfiction book I really enjoyed. It’s called Heart of the Sea and it’s the true story Moby Dick was based on. They also made a movie staring Chris Helmsworth based on it. That was quite good as well. I read Heart of the Sea a little while ago. It talks about more than the ship sinking after the whale rams it. It covers everything the survivors went through trying to get to safety and how it affected their lives afterward. Read more…

Friday Book Recommendation 4

Hello everyone and welcome to the Friday Book Recommendation,   Today I thought I’d move out of the Pathfinder universe and take a look at something from someone else. In fact we’re going halfway around the world to discuss a series written by a japanese author. It’s called the Irregular at the Magic High School and is one of my favorite light novel series. It follows the adventures of a brother and sister who are both powerful wizards. They attend the same magic high school, think high tech Harry Potter, and get into all sorts of adventures. The writing style Read more…

Friday Book Recommendation 3

Hello everyone and welcome to the Friday Book Recommendation, Today we’ll be continuing in the Pathfinder universe and Dave Gross’s excellent series within that universe. The second book is Master of Devils and find Varian and Radovan in the far eastern nation of Tian Xia. I will say up front that I love all the books in this series, but this one is my favorite. Not only does it explore more of the Radovan’s heritage as a part-devil but the setting is very much reminiscent of a Wuxia story, which is a style of writing I enjoy. In this book Read more…
