Weekly Writing Update June 19 – 25

Hello everyone, My week has been happily quiet. Lots of writing and other work getting done with minimal distractions. Unfortunately that means I have little news to share with you guys. I did find another interesting article to share, see bellow. First, this article about how satire is starting to get censored. Now if you guys have been with me for any length of time you know I hate censorship of any kind. The way I see it, more speech is better than less. The chilling thing about this is that if mock the wrong person you might end up Read more…

Amazon At It Again

Time for another free speech rant. Well, Amazon decided in its infinite wisdom to kick another controversial book off its book store. Not a new book either. This one’s been on there since 2018 with no issues. Then all of a sudden Boom! no more listing for you. Now the book isn’t some screed by a random nut job, but a well researched work on the harms caused to children who go through the process of transitioning to a different sex. The author is a teaching fellow at a university. Now, whatever you may think about the subject, personally I Read more…

Why This Blog Is So Important

Cancel Culture and Why Having a Blog Matters This post isn’t going to be a rant exactly, but I was reminded again why having a place outside of social media where I can talk to you all is so important. I don’t know if you saw it, but Kevin Sorbo, Hercules himself, had his Facebook page deleted along with all 500,000 followers, all his posts, everything. And I haven’t heard a reason why. Author acquaintances of mine have had their ads account deactivated at random, restored, then deleted again. Again with no explanation. As someone that basically makes a living Read more…

Censorship is Also Bad

The Day – 9-26-20 Another quiet day yesterday. We’re actually having a taste of Indian Summer here. The temperature reached 80 yesterday and it’s supposed to get there again today. The warm weather seems so strange with the trees changing color, but it happens every year. After lunch I started on a new project, a Sci-fi short story for a writing class I’m taking. Once it’s done, I’ll be offering it for free to my newsletter subscribers, so if you haven’t joined already, be sure to sign up. Censorship is Bad Much like the book burning story this yesterday, I Read more…

Anime and Manga Under Attack

The Day – 8-2-20 I had a nice, quiet, Sunday yesterday, my favorite kind. We did have some storms come rolling through later in the day, but nothing damaging. We really needed the rain so I won’t complain. I made it to my writing desk around 1:30 and managed 5 pages. I also started reading the Green Lantern section of The New 52 Comics. I’ll have reviews for those over the rest of the week. What is up with the censorship? I don’t know if you all follow publishing, but I do and I’ve noticed an unfortunate trend. Anime and Read more…

The Day – 5-17-20 – Free Speech Rant

Well, trimming went better than mowing yesterday, though the weight and vibration left my forearms aching for about three hours. I will say that the warmer weather feels fantastic. I feel so bad for all those people living in apartments who can’t get out due to the lockdown. Though from what I’ve seen plenty of them aren’t paying much attention anymore. Which brings me to our topic for the day. I was reading the weekend Wall Street Journal and came across a long article about a guy that found the coverage of the current situation too lopsided in favor of Read more…
