The Third Gate Review - James E. Wisher

The Third Gate Review

The Day – 9-9-20

This is going to sound repetitive, but I spent the morning puttering over at the rental, just doing little things to make it more appealing to a potential buyer. I also got my chimneys swept, so I’m already for cold weather.

I made it to my writing desk about 1:00, but only managed 4 pages. I’m really close to the end of Book 6 and this slowdown always happens at the end of a novel, at least for me. I’m just sort of groping around for the ending, going back to add a scene or two that came to me later in the process, that kind of thing. Not a very efficient way to work, but it’s the only way I’ve found that works for me.

To be honest, I’ve always envied the writers who could follow an outline. It sounds like such a nice way to write, but I can’t do it. As soon as I start writing, the characters take control and veer off the path I’ve chosen. Now I don’t even waste the few hours a simple outline would take.

The Third Gate Review

The Third Gate is a thriller written by Lincoln Child set in Egypt. The story follows an enigmalogist, basically a ghost hunter, named Logan who gets hired to figure out the cause of some freak accidents on a remote archaeological dig. The book is set in a creepy swamp in North Africa. Apparently it’s a real place if you ever feel the need to visit the nastiest place on earth. As Lohan investigates, it becomes clear that something supernatural is going on. And the further the dig progresses, the worse things get.

I won’t giveaway too much, but if you like thrillers with a supernatural bent, this is a good one to check out. It gets a strong recommend from me.

We end as always with a preorder report. The Portal Thieves is up to 922. Thanks everyone for your continued support.

Talk to you tomorrow.
