The Day - 6-7-20 - James E. Wisher

The Day – 6-7-20

We had another nice, quiet, sunny day yesterday. Perfect weather for yard work, which I got done. I also cooked up a batch of my favorite sloppy joe and rice. It’s really simple and tasty. I thought I’d share the recipe in case any of you want to try it. I do a two pound batch and freeze the leftovers.

You start by putting on a pot of water to boil. Once it’s going add a bag of boil in the bag rice or whatever you like. The sauce goes really well with pasta too. While that’s going, take two pounds of hamburger and a diced onion, cook until the meat is done. Next drain the grease and add Newman’s Own marinara sauce until it reaches the consistency you like. Finally dump in the bag of cooked rice, mix, add salt to taste, and enjoy. If any of you try it, comment and let me know what you think.

After lunch and an episode of MI-5 I made it to my writing computer and managed another 5 pages.

I wanted to talk about a trend I find interesting, live-streaming. It seems to be growing in popularity. I noticed one of my favorite comic book artists, Dave Finch, did his first live drawing last night on his Youtube channel. Jim Lee does the same thing on Twitch. It also seems to be popular with indy comic book creators and pop culture commentators. Basically a bunch of people get together to bitch about whatever’s going on in the world that they don’t like and talk about their projects.

Now, I like to draw, I suck at it, but I do enjoy it. So watching an artist whose style I like work is valuable and educational, but I can’t imagine myself watching people chew over pop culture for four hours straight. It must help sell comics and bring in subscribers to their channels because they seem to happen all the time, but I just don’t see it.

I tried to imagine doing a writing live-stream, but couldn’t think of any more boring. For one thing I can’t talk and write at the same time, so it would be my typing for a few minutes, then staring at the screen trying to think up what happens next, followed by more typing. Repeat for three hours. Sounds horrid just thinking about it.

I end as always with a preorder update on The Hidden Tower. We’re up to 458. with 11 days to go. Thanks everyone for all your support.

Talk to you tomorrow.
