The Great Pumpkin Has Left The Building

The Day – 10-29-20

Let me start off by thanking everyone that stopped by the blog yesterday. We hit 49 visitors. I could hardly believe it. I think that’s more readers that I had the entire first month I was blogging. It’s really motivating to know I’m not just typing into the void.

Okay, as for my day, it was pretty quiet. I installed a new carbon monoxide detector at the house I’m trying to sell. That was one of the clauses in the contract, so I’m happy to have that taken care of.

After a fantastic lunch, I watched an episode of The Repair Shop. All three items were interesting this time.

First up was an old wooden toy fire truck. It was hand made back in the forties. The best part was seeing the man that owned it react to the fixed up toy. He was just like a little boy playing with it for the first time.

Next was a ceramic plate made in Japan in the 1700s. This one, I think, had the coolest story. It was a bloodletting bowl used to catch the blood when they’d bleed you. I shuddered to think of that. I really wouldn’t have liked to live back when people believed draining your blood was a good way to heal someone.

Finally they restored an old wood and iron sign that had sat in a town square. It was a beautiful piece of work and the people seemed really pleased to see it all fixed up.

With everything going on in the world, I’m really glad I found this show. It’s such a feel good thing to watch. If you need a pick me up or just a break from politics, I can’t recommend it highly enough.

I don’t know about you all, but for as long as I can remember, one of our family traditions was watching the Peanuts shows during the holidays. Well, I hadn’t see the Halloween episode advertised anywhere so I went searching.

Turns out, Apple has bought the rights to it and they won’t be showing the holiday specials on broadcast TV this year. If you want to watch them, you’ll have to do it on Apple +. On the plus side, they are making it available for free for two days, so even if you don’t have a subscription, you can still watch.

I’m not going to lie though, Not having them on regular TV kind of sucks. It’s just a nostalgia thing I suppose.

Anyway, which was your favorite?

Personally I always liked Halloween the best. Watching Linus’s endless optimism for the Great Pumpkin always made me smile.

Finally a preorder update. The Master of Magic is up to 1024. Thanks everyone for your support.

Talk to you tomorrow.
