The Day – 10-30-20
Yesterday was another hectic day. Not that I had to go anywhere, but rather I had a ton of calls and emails. Matters are progressing on the house sale so I’m hearing from real estate agents and lawyers. This is all good, but also very distracting.
After a nice lunch of fresh pancakes and ham, I watched an episode of The Repair Shop. This episode they had three more interesting items.
The first and my favorite was a clock made from the propeller of a WW1 biplane. The grandfather of the man who owned it was a pilot in WW1. He crashed during a training flight and survived. To celebrate, the ground crew rescued his propeller and turned it into a clock. It was a really pretty piece and I liked the story as well.
The second items were a pair of stained glass windows rescued from a theater about to be torn down. Those turned out really nice and should a fine decoration for the lady that owned them.
Third was a shoe stretching tool that had been rusting in a garden shed for thirty years. Watching the guy fix it reminded me of a Youtube channel called MyMechanics. You should check it out if you haven’t.
I finally made it to my writing desk around 2:00 and between emails managed a little over 2 pages.
A Halloween Story
So I’m a long way removed from my trick or treating days, but this cold morning reminded me of one year when I was maybe 8 years old. Now, where I live, the end of October can range from beautiful and spring like to bitter and winter like. That year was bitter.
Basically you put on your costume then all your heavy winter gear: jackets, gloves, hat, and boots. You also couldn’t go on foot. Mom and Dad drove from house to house. At each stop I’d take off the heavy gear, run to the door to get candy and show off my costume. I think I went as a ninja that year. Then it was back to the car and on to the next house to repeat the process.
That was a long night and I think the last time I went trick or treating.
This year I doubt anyone will be going out with situation we’re in. That’s kind of sad actually.
Finally a preorder update. The Master of Magic is up to 1048. Thanks everyone for your support.
Talk to you tomorrow.
