The Day – 10-31-20
I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Halloween. Mine was pretty quiet. The only excitement came when the Halloween parade went by the house. Basically it was just the local fire departments driving by with their lights on. Happily they didn’t feel the need to include the sirens. It was basically the 4th of July parade only at night. I know, not exactly exciting, but at they’re trying so that’s what counts.
The weather was bitter cold for the last day of October. We barely got out of the twenties and I had a fire going all day. It fell really good too.
After a nice lunch, I watched another episode of The Repair Shop.
The first item was the oldest they’d ever had, a 300 year old desk that needed some serious cleaning and repair. Once it was done though, the wood looked beautiful.
Next up was a fancy clock with brass and tortoise shell decorations. I’m not going to lie, I though it was ugly as anything.
Finally was stuffed elephant. The woman that brought it in had the cutest story. Her father bought it when she was a little girl and she’d never seen an elephant. Her reaction to the stuffed animal was, “Papa, what a big mouse!” I thought it was funny.
After the show, I made it to my writing desk around 1:30 and managed a solid 5 pages. This last book is giving me fits. First I thought it was going to end up quite long. Now it feels like it might be shorter. I just don’t know what to expect.
I’ll end with a preorder update. The Master of Magic is up to 1059. Thanks everyone for your support.
Talk to you tomorrow.
