The Day – 7-6-20

So I had another errand to run yesterday. Happily the weather was gorgeous and it was a nice drive through the mountains. The bicyclers were out in force turning the road into an obstacle course. And much of the trip is curvy and narrow so getting around them safely can be a trial. It’s also the heart of construction season, so dump trucks and other big vehicles are everywhere. And the hikers. Oh my goodness. I counted thirty cars between the two trailheads I passed.

On the one hand having them here is good for the local economy. On the other, many of them are from the city, so you can’t help wondering what they might be bringing with them. But that’s just the world we live in now I guess. After I picked up my prescription, I went to my favorite little diner for lunch which was delicious.

I made it back home to my writing desk about 2:00 and managed a solid 6 pages. Maybe three more days and the rough draft will be done.

I don’t have any updates to share with you today. Just more waiting. At this point I don’t even think about it, I just do what I can do.

Speaking of things we can do. Yesterday the DMV opened for walk-in appointments. There was a picture of it in the local paper. The line looked about a mile long. Kind of depressing actually since at some point I need to make a trip there. But it will be better than getting hung up on by the DMV’s computer every time I call to make an appointment. That’s got to be the worst system I’ve ever encountered.

Anyway, here’s your daily preorder update. We reached 439 on The Great Northern War. Also a lot of people have been buying direct which is fantastic. Thanks everyone for your support. I couldn’t do this without you.

Talk to you tomorrow.
