The Day – 7-7-20

I had a pretty quiet day yesterday. The only real project that required my attention was a pair of rusty lawn ornaments that needed a fresh coat of black paint. Since I have no news to speak of, I’ll jump straight into updates.

Or I should say update. I only have one, but it’s a big one. I booked my narrator for the first four books in the Portal Wars Saga. Joe Hempel has done the audio for all my books through Tantor, so it was an easy choice, even though I did look around at a few others.  He’s booked through August and so will start my books in September. By the end of October, all four should be done. Kind of a big delay for the first book, I know, but the last two should launch pretty close to each other. Anyway, I’m glad to have found someone and can mark that off my list of things to do.

Setting up the audio stuff took a good chunk of the afternoon so I didn’t get to writing until after 3:00. Still managed 3 pages so not bad. I think today should finish the rough draft. All I have left to write is the epilogue.

Now for some sad news. Two of my favorite musicians died this week. First was Ennio Morricone an amazing composer who did the sound track of a number of westerns. His most famous being The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Metallica even cover one of his pieces, The Ecstasy of Gold. The second was Charlie Daniels. I loved the Devil Went Down to Georgia. I listened to his stuff a lot when I was younger and more into country music.

On a happier note, we’re up to 457 preorders on The Great Northern War and direct sales continue to be brisk. So thank you everyone for your support.

Talk to you tomorrow.
