The Day – 7-4-20

I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July. In my town, even though pretty much everything got canceled, at noon, we did have a small parade. The fire departments of our town, the town north of us, and the town south of us all drove their trucks down the main street, honking their horns and running the sirens. At first I thought there was actually a fire, then I got up and looked.

The field day was still canceled. I asked my mom and she said this was the first time she could remember them not having it. We did have fireworks, though whether private or done by the town, I can’t say.

Cancelling the doings, as we call it up here, was probably wise. At least two locals have come down with Covid and two other are quarateened as a precaution, so it is in the area. All that said, the surprise parade was nice. Made it feel like the fourth.

i watched another eighties action movie, Escape from New York. I liked the writing much better than Invasion USA. Still cheesy as hell, but better. If anyone hasn’t watched it yet, I highly recommend you do. The plot isn’t exactly complicated. Air Force One crashes in Manhattan, which has been turned into a giant prison. Kurt Russell’s character, Snake, has to go in and rescue him in exchange for a pardon. It’s a fun movie with a lot of stars.

I made it to my writing computer around 1:30 and managed 6 pages.

I’ll end with a preorder update. We’re up to 390 on The Great Northern War. I’ver also sold a bunch on my Payhip Store which implies that people are eager enough to see what happens that they’re willing to buy direct. So thanks everyone for your support.

Talk to you tomorrow.
