So yesterday ended up being kind of hectic. I had an afternoon errand to run that took a couple hours. On the plus side, the weather was perfect which made the ride tolerable. The hikers were out as were the bicyclers. It’s kind of amazing how like a normal summer things have been, leaving aside masks of course.
I did my writing for the day in the morning, which always seems strange. I managed 6 pages of actually readable manuscript, so not bad for an errand day.
Last night I started reading a nonfiction book that’s free with Prime on my Kindle. It’s a historical about this guy that murdered the crew of a small oyster boat and robbed them. I’m only about a third of the way through but so far it’s pretty interesting. I’ll give you all a full review when finish it.
And that brings me to the main subject for today’s post. Once again it seems Amazon is lashing out at Light Novels. A bunch more have been kicked off the Kindle platform, including How Not to Summon a Demon Lord. There was probably another half a dozen as well, but I can’t remember all their titles. One of them apparently had over 1,000 preorders. That scares the hell out of me. My Aegis of Merlin series is kind of a riff on a Light Novel series. I doubt they’ll come after my books, but the possibility is certainly there. On the plus side, the ones removed from the Kindle are at least still available in paperback. No Game No Life has been completely erased from the store.
When I see stuff like his it just makes me more anxious to build my direct audience. I really don’t know why so many people have a bug up their ass about anime and manga lately, but it seems to be a popular target for tech censorship. I hate to see it. Really makes you wonder what’s next.
Anyway, we’ll end with a preorder update. We’re up to 637 on The Great Northern War. Thanks everyone for your support.
And yes, the irony that most of those preorders are on Amazon isn’t lost on me.
Talk to you tomorrow.
