Well, it’s certainly nice having a working air conditioner. Not only does the system cool things down on a hot day, it also reduces the humidity, which is amazing lately. Saturday was pretty quiet. I got another letter from the state tax department. I swear it’s going to be time to file this years taxes by the time I get last year’s mess sorted out. Can’t do anything about it until tomorrow, so for now the letter sits on my desk glowering at me. I’m trying to ignore it with limited success.
After an excellent lunch and an episode of MI-5, I made it to my writing desk around 1:30. Despite an interruption mid work session from my tenant, I got all but five chapters edited on the new novel. I probably shouldn’t call it editing. It’s more of a read through to make sure everything makes sense and I didn’t leave any plot threads dangling. At least none that I didn’t mean to leave for the next book.
Something I’ve noticed over the past few years is that I feel strange when I don’t have a project to work on. Even editing doesn’t fully scratch the itch. When I’m not writing a new story, it’s like something’s wrong with the universe. Somehow I doubt people working other jobs feel the same way. Like, it’s the weekend and I’m not going to work. I feel completely off balance. I assume that’s not a thing for most people. If it is for you, let me know in the comments.
That’s just my way of saying I can’t wait to finish editing and get start on the next book, The Heart of Alchemy.
I’ll end, as always, with a preorder update. We’re up to 543. Thanks everyone for your support.
Talk to you tomorrow.
