So yesterday was errand day. I was starting to feel like Old Mother Hubbard, my cupboards were bare. The grocery store was well stocked and they had everything I needed except my favorite brand of orange juice. You’ll probably think this is funny, but I like Minute Maid kids. It’s fortified with calcium and since I can’t drink milk, I figure it makes up some of the difference. On an interesting side note, today was the most full I’ve seen the toilet paper section. You had your choice of brands and sizes. I can’t help but take that as a good sign.
I’d been home for an hour and was thinking my day was going well when the phone rang. It was my accountant. It seems there are still issues with my taxes from last year, so now I’ve got that to get sorted out. If there’s one thing I hate more than cleaning out drains, it’s taxes. But it has to be done so done it shall be, today.
On the plus side, at least my sink is still working with no leaks. Yay!
After all that I still managed 3 pages on the new novel.
Now for a fun discussion about what I like to call, stupidly specific lock down rules. I got the idea from yesterday’s Wall Street Journal, so I can’t take full credit.
The article talks about the new rules for playing tennis. Yes, they have rules for that now. First, doubles is forbidden. Next, no high-fives, as if anyone’s going to be doing that at the moment. Third, if a ball from another court rolls your way, for god’s sake don’t touch it. You have to kick it back to the other players. Just make sure they don’t get too close in the process.
These rules remind me of the rules for golf in NY. First no carts. No idea why. Second, don’t take the flag out of the hole. Third, don’t rake the sand traps. And those are just the rules I know. I’m sure there are plenty more.
Now, I don’t know if they’ve assigned dedicated sports police to make sure you don’t break any of these rules or if they’re trusting people to turn in anyone breaking them. I’m pretty sure it’s the later given how many busy bodies there are in the world who get off on sticking their noses into other people’s business.
What really irks me is there are obviously people siting around coming up with all these rules. There are riots going one for goodness sake, can’t they find something better to do?
Clearly they can’t.
Anyway, as always we end with a preorder update. We reached 401. 500 hundred is a real possibility before the book goes live. Thanks everyone for your support.
Talk to you tomorrow.
