I don’t know about you all, but I can hardly believe the month is half over. Yesterday was as close to a perfect weather day as you can get, sunny, seventies, and low humidity. A good day to wash the truck, which I did. It was filthy, covered in pollen and dotted with bird shit. I don’t really drive it much. I didn’t even before the lock down. Mostly I keep it for the occasions when I need to move stuff. It’s handier to have a truck of your own than to have to beg or borrow one from a friend or relative. I hate begging and borrowing.
After a nice lunch of pancakes and ham and an episode of Shetland, I made it to my writing desk. Managed a solid 5 pages.
Last night I finished the book I’d been reading, the second Vampire Files novel by P. N. Elrod. It’s called horror, but it’s really not too horrific. The main character is a vampire, obviously, but he’s a nice one. He doesn’t kill people and mainly feeds on cattle blood at the Chicago stock yards. It’s set in the 1930s which is fun. If you haven’t read the series I can recommend the first two books without hesitation. The first covers the hero learning to use his powers for the first time as he hunts down the people that killed him. The second features a pair of bumbling, but still dangerous wanna be vampire hunters.
Now that I’ve finished that book, I’m going to do something I seldom do, reread a series. I saw an article about the author of one of my favorite Star Wars series of all time, The Darth Bane Trilogy. Basically it said Disney had no plans to use his books as a basis for any movies. Given how sucky their movies have been lately, I think that’s a mistake, but whatever. I’ve pretty much given up on Disney Star Wars at this point.
I’m looking forward to seeing if the series is as good as I remember. The first book came out in 2006, so it’s been a while.
Last but not least we come to the daily preorder update. We’re at 573 with three days to go. I don’t think we’re going to make it to 600, but I’ll be happy to be proven wrong. Many thanks for your continued support.
Talk to you tomorrow.
