The rain ended, cool weather settled in, and we had another beautiful day. I made it outside to do some weeding in the garden and got most of it done. Now all I have left to do is plant the annuals and put down some fresh mulch. It’s nice getting outside and not boiling your brains out in the sun. I’m sure that won’t last as summer gets closer, but for now I’m going to enjoy it.
After a left over lunch and an episode of MI5, I made it to my writing desk and did 5 more pages. This book is just trundling along, not fast, not slow, just steady. I’m kind of enjoying not have to struggle over anything. It’s odd, but agreeable. Of course I’ve probably just jinxed myself. : )
So, with that out of the way, I have to say something about the riots going on all over the country. I’m not going to get into the politics, that’s black hole from which there’s no escape. No, I want to focus on the media and their coverage. Some of it has been, shall we say, iffy.
My personal favorite was this on reporter, I’m not sure if he was with CNN or MSNBC, but he was standing in front of a building, fully engulfed in flames with looters running around. And this guy, with a straight face, says everything’s basically under control. Aside from a few people causing trouble it’s nothing but peaceful protests. I don’t know whether I should laugh or cry.
I heard someone compare him to Baghdad Bob. I’d forgotten all about that guy. Do you remember? He was interviewed during the gulf war saying that the Iraqi army had the American invaders on the run and everything was fine while his soldiers were literally fleeing behind him.
I don’t know what to think about everything, but I’m not optimistic. By the way, if you watched any of the coverage you’ll notice basically zero concern for the looters lack of social distancing. But that’s a whole other post so I won’t get started.
Finally, let’s end on an up note. We’re up to 355 preorders. Big thanks to everyone that’s offered their support.
Talk to you tomorrow.
