The Day - 5-28-20 - James E. Wisher

The Day – 5-28-20

We only hit the 80s yesterday and still no rain. It’s been almost two weeks. I’m pretty sure the grass isn’t supposed to crunch when you walk on it. Maybe in August, but not in May.

I had to run to the pharmacy in the morning to pick up a prescription, and there is was. Sitting on a shelf amidst a score of identical brothers, like a tiny phalanx of awesome, hand sanitizer in little bottles. I felt like an explorer in some uncharted section of the amazon seeing a species believed by the entire world to have gone extinct. I could even hear the British guy’s voice over. I imagined it sounded something like this.

Here we see the rare, alcohol based hand sanitizer in its natural habitat. Careful not to make any sudden moves lest you startle it into fleeing into the chip isle. This rare specimen was thought to have gone extinct due to over hunting during the great Covid outbreak of 2020. By remarkable good fortune we’ve stumbled onto an entire case. Take a moment to savor this find before the local predators swoop in and make off with the little beauties. It’s absolutely heartbreaking to think of the fate that awaits them, their guts squeezed out a few drops at a time over the course of weeks. Let’s have a moment of silence for the poor devils. And don’t forget, you can always donate to save the hand sanitizer at our website.

I didn’t revel in the find very long lest they get snatched up from right under my nose. Not wanting to be greedy, I took a single bottle to keep in the car. I felt like a pilot in one of the games when you acquire the shield upgrade.

After my errand it was back home for lunch. Yesterday kind of turned me off from eating out for a while and a nice salad at home tasted good.

I made it to my writing desk by 1:30 and did my usual 5 pages. I’m approaching 25,000 words and still haven’t hit the rough patch I’ve been expecting. Maybe this will be the rare the book that flows right to the end. That would be great.

Finally, we reached 324 preorders on The Hidden Tower. Thanks for your support everyone.

Talk to you tomorrow.
