The Day – 9-5-20
Does it feel weird to anyone else that we’re heading in to the Labor Day weekend and there’s practically nothing going on? It’s like the Fourth of July. No field day, half-assed parade, other than a day off for those that have to go to work, it’s just nothing. Sometimes I look ahead to next summer and wonder what the world will look like. Being a writer, the scenarios get pretty ugly.
But that’s neither here nor there. I had a quiet day yesterday. No disruptions to speak of, which got me to my writing desk early and 6 pages done. It was a nice feeling.
Swamp Thing Review
So I just finished the second volumes of Swamp Thing and Animal Man. The stories are really interesting, for of a mixture of super hero and horror. The books follow these two heroes on their quest to defeat the rot.
But maybe I should give just a little background. There are supposedly three primal forces of nature, the green, the red, and the rot. Swamp Thing is the avatar of the green, which represents plant life. Animal Man and his daughter represent the red, which is animal life. The rot is the phase in between and has run out of control so the heroes of the red and green have to return the balance to the world.
I know, it’s a little much, but don’t let that throw you. There’s lots of action as our heroes fight these creepy animal zombies to protect their loved ones. The second volume of both books ends just as our heroes are about to journey into the rot to defeat its avatar.
If you like your super heroes mixed with a little horror, this is a series for you. I give it a recommend.
Finally a preorder update. The Portal Thieves is up to 838. Thanks everyone for your support.
Talk to you tomorrow.
