I want to begin by wishing all of you a safe and happy Labor Day. I know a lot of places have canceled their celebrations. My town did, the same as with the 4th of July. I was never big on that sort of thing, but I know they brought in a lot of money for the fire departments. Hopefully donations are making up the difference. I saw an article online where the experts were worrying that holiday get togethers were going to cause another Covid spike. Hopefully that doesn’t happen.
That reminds me of another funny thing I saw. Someone, I forget who, called the group of family and friends you were wiling to spend time with during the pandemic your Plague Pod. I love that name and fully intend to steal for one of my books, assuming I ever write a plague story. Given everything that’s happened, I’m not sure it will happen soon.
Now, I don’t know about you, but when I was a kid, I always hated Labor Day. Not the holiday itself of course, but what it signaled, the end of summer. I knew two days after the fun, it was back to class. Frankly, if I was going to school now, I’d be in heaven. Distance learning without having to attend class with bullies, jocks, mean girls, and all the other categories of asshole, would be amazing.
But that’s neither here nor there.
The Day – 9-6-20
Yesterday was a quiet day. I did a little work at the rental house in the morning and in the afternoon the realtor showed it for the first time. I was delighted. To have a hit after only three days on the market is pretty good.
After lunch and an episode of Car Masters, I made it to my writing desk about 2:00 and managed 5 pages.
I’ll end with a preordered update. The Portal Thieves is up to 866. Thanks everyone for your support.
Talk to you tomorrow.
