The Day – 11-4-20
After all the excitement of election day, if you want to call stomach churning stress excitement, yesterday was kind of boring. I had some errands to run. First was the post office where for the first time in two weeks I didn’t get a flyer for one of the campaigns. I’m calling that a win right there. I swear I must have thrown away scores of the damn things over the last few months.
Next was the bank, which was mercifully quiet. Then came lunch, which was delicious. And the diner was even crowded. It felt like the before times. If not for the waitress’s mask, it could have been 2019. I used to find all the voices and noise irritating, but yesterday it sounded…normal. Hard to imagine how good normal felt.
Finally it was groceries and home. On the way back I saw that the realtor had put the sale pending tag on the for sale sign. There are still things that might go wrong, but I think there’s a good chance we close before the end of the year. Fingers crossed.
I didn’t make it to my writing desk until 3:00 and I was beat. Still I managed 2 pages and I’ll take that on a shopping day.
Manga Update
So I heard from the artist I contacted and I think we have an agreement on a sample of around 8 pages plus 5 character designs. I’m really excited to see how this all turns out. Not just for business reasons. I know there’s a big market for indy comics given some of the trash being put out by Marvel and DC. And I hope my story can mind an eager audience. But for me, seeing my story turned into a real comic is the culmination of years of dreaming.
Before I became a writer, I wanted to be a comic artist. Frank Miller was my hero. The writer artist of some of the coolest comics out there.
That was going to be me, until I figured out I was way better at the writing part of the process than the drawing part.
I moved on to focus on my strength, but never gave up on wanting to have a comic made. When I think about it finally happening, I can’t stop smiling.
We’ll end with a preorder update. The Master of Magic is up to 1124. Thanks everyone. your support means the world to me.
Talk to you tomorrow.
