My Story Part 5 - James E. Wisher

My Story Part 5

Hi everybody,

This will be the last post where I talk about the early steps on my path to writing. I hope you’ve enjoyed learning a little about my journey. I also want to thank everyone that responded to last week’s question about my new series. I hope to have book 1 up and ready for you by the first part of February.

At the end of my senior year I was finally enjoying writing.

A couple of weeks before graduation my english teacher asked me what I planned to do.

I had just found a correspondence course that paired new writers with more experienced professionals. He said that was good and wished me luck.

When I picked up my diploma after graduation, I learned that he had put me up for a writing scholarship and that I got it. It wasn’t for much money, only fifty dollars, but it meant a lot to me that he believed enough in me to put me in the running.

I spent the next year doing the correspondence course, learning a ton and having a blast.

I didn’t end up going to college for english. Instead i studied Business Management and accounting. I ended up hating it, but the lessons have come in handy for running my own business.

That pretty much concludes my earlier path to writing.

Next time I’ll talk about the many mistakes I made at the start of my writing career. That should keep us occupied for a few months.

Just a reminder that if you missed last week’s email, your new short story is up. You can download it here.

This will be my last post until after Christmas. I hope every has a happy and safe holiday.

As always, thanks for reading.
