My Story Part 4 - James E. Wisher

My Story Part 4

If you missed my earlier posts you can read part 1 here.

So I was enjoying books and D&D, but writing in class still sucked.

That all changed my senior year.

My English teacher gave us the best assignment ever. Write a short story about anything you want. I wasn’t sure I understood and asked if a fantasy story was okay.

It was.

I couldn’t believe it. Here was my chance to write a story like all those I’d been reading. I turned in a thousand words and he said they were good, but that I had to finish it.

I thought it was finished, but he said it was only an opening. I ended up procrastinating until the night before it was due. Since I don’t type very fast, I wrote the story long hand and gave my mom the sheets to type.

I made the whole thing up in one evening. It was amazing fun.

My story got the second best grade in class and I was hooked.

Story telling was my jam. And I owe it all to a teacher that let me do what I really wanted to.

What about you? Did you have a teacher that really helped you find what you were meant to do? If so shoot me an email and tell me about it. I’d love to hear your story.

Last but not least a quick reminder, you new free short story is up and ready for download. You can find it in the exclusive section.
