Editing First Pass Complete

The Day – 9-21-20

Another chilly morning. When I got up everything was white and the thermometer read 28 degrees. This seems early for it to be that cold, but I guess the weather doesn’t know that. It certainly didn’t do my flowers any good. One patch of geraniums got hammered and sent to the compost heap. The plants closer to the house survived okay. I assume because they’re more protected.

Anyway, it was a quiet day and that let me focus on my editing. Which I finished, at least the read through and first pass. By the end fo the week, the whole thing should be done and ready to go to the editor.

Last night I was reading an old short story from the 40s. It’s honestly kind of weird. They don’t bat an eyelash at casual racism, but all the swear words are changed into dashes. And smoking and drinking. Don’t get me started on that. Everyone just about smokes and drinks. One of my favorite lines, I’m not sure where I saw it, was when this kid tells a woman that smoking is bad for her and she replies that she smokes the same brand as her doctor. I don’t know why that made me laugh, but it did.

I’ll be starting a new fantasy novel tonight. In a week or so I’ll post a review.

Not much else to report so I’ll end with a preorder update. The Portal Thieves is up to 1,155. Thanks everyone for your support.

Talk to you tomorrow.
