The Day – 8-23-20
Well I was overly optimistic about having a quiet day yesterday. I got an e-mail from my contractor saying he was coming first thing Monday to redo the laundry room floor. That’s a goods thing since I’m eager to have it fixed. It’s also a bad thing since I had to move all the stuff out of the laundry room so it wouldn’t be in the way. Let me tell you, I’d accumulated a lot of junk over the years in there. By the time I finished cleaning it all out, I was beat. After lunch and a movie, I made it to my writing desk about 1:45 and managed another 6 pages. Pretty good considering.
One quick update. The fifth book in the Portal Wars Saga is off for proofreading. It’s coming along nicely and I hope to have it up for sale on Payhip by the end of September. Fingers crossed.
County Line Review
The movie I watched after lunch was called County Line. It’s about this ex-sheriff trying to find out who was responsible for shooting his friend, the sheriff of the neighboring county. It’s funny, one of the heroes of this movie played the final villain in the movie I reviewed yesterday. I guess he starred in a lot of B movies. Anyway this is a pretty standard mystery story. There are plenty of dumb villains, the star finds a new love interest after losing his wife, and it ends happily ever after.
Please don’t take my somewhat dismissive description as a negative. Everything was done well and the characters are likable. I was really rooting for them to figure out who was responsible. Though to be honest I had a pretty good idea who at least some of bad guys were about halfway through the movie. If you like corny mysteries, you’ll like this one. It’s a recommend from me.
We’ll end with a preorder update. The Portal Thieves is up to 572. Thanks for all your support.
Talk to you tomorrow.
