Burning Books is Bad - James E. Wisher

Burning Books is Bad

The Day – 9-26-20

I had a nice, quiet day yesterday. Which was welcome let me tell you. I spent the morning finishing the editing on my new novel. That’s now off to the editor. I think one more book will finish the Portal Wars Saga. How it’s going to be finished is another question. I have absolutely no idea and probably won’t until I write the final scene. That is both terrifying and exciting.

After lunch I made my first YouTube video. It’s not fantastic, I’ll be honest. But it turned out better than I expected. I basically repurposed a blog post with my review of the first Goblin Slayer manga. A few people actually watched it which surprised the hell out of me. If you guys want to check it out and maybe subscribe, here’s the link. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsoQcctMzNyHhiExcvjoomg/

Book Burning is Bad

It’s astonishing to me that in this day and age I have to write that title. I mean, do we not all remember how things turned out the last time book burning was popular?

What made me decide to write this is an article I saw about people burning Harry Potter books because of something J K Rowling said about trans people. Now I have no intention of getting that conversation. What I want to focus on is the reaction.

I can’t for the life of me see what good burning her books does. Maybe it makes them feel better? I’m sure if Rowling gives these people even a passing thought, their antics don’t bother her in the least.

Whatever you think of the politics, can we not at least agree that burning books is a bad look? As an author and life long reader, the sight of it horrifies me. I’m not a big fan of flag burning either, but that never hit me the way book burning did.

I’ll include an archived link if you want to read the article yourselves. https://archive.vn/grzVz

I’ll end with a preorder update. The Portal Thieves is up to 1,207 with 12 days to go. Thanks everyone for your support. I appreciate it.

Talk to you tomorrow.
