The Day – 10-20-20
Yesterday was errand day. After a 1:00 appointment I hit the grocery store. At long last, after what’s it been seven months? The cleaning supplies are fully stocked. They even had Clorox disinfectant wipes. I haven’t seen those since March. I felt like some archeologist unearthing lost technology in a novel. Still, it was good to see the shelves full. Hopefully if everything goes to hell again this winter, they won’t run out of everything again.
The shopping trip cut a chunk out of the middle of my day, but I still managed 3 pages between morning and evening sessions. This has not been a great week, but I’m pushing forward slowly but surely. As much as I like The Portal Wars Saga, I’m really looking forward to writing something else. Seven epic fantasy novels in a row is a lot.
Now for Audible issues. It’s not with my books specifically, rather it’s with their policies in general. See, they advertise that you can just return an audio book and get your credit back to use again. What that means to the author is that we don’t get paid for that book.
Considering how much it costs to get an audio book produced, that’s a problem
I haven’t been keeping track of sales fluctuations, but some author friends said they’ve lost dozens of sales, some even went into the red for the month which means Audible took money back from their account. That’s not cool.
Hopefully they’ll change their policy if enough of us have problems, but I’m not holding my breath.
I’ll end with a preorder update. The Master of Magic is up to 862. Thanks everyone for your support.
Talk to you tomorrow.
