The Day – 7-26-20
So, as I mentioned in my little post yesterday afternoon, a family emergency had me at hospital all day. Like eight hours from the time I left home until I got back. The worst part was, due to the stupid Covid rules, I couldn’t stay with my family member. No visitors in the ER they said, sorry. Don’t get me wrong, I totally understand their point of view, it just sucks not knowing what’s going on. Basically I sat in the car, listened to the radio, did puzzles, played games, and generally tried to stay sane while waiting for news. On an interesting side note, I watched the helicopter they use to quickly transport people in really bad shape take off. That was the first time I’d seen it in person. Clearly someone was having a worse day than me.
After leaving the hospital, we went for either a late lunch or early supper depending on your point of view. I was starving and the food tasted really good. So a small win for the day.
Obviously no writing got done. But that’s okay. Somethings are more important than writing.
I finished a book I was going to share with you yesterday. a fantasy novel set in the Pathfinder Role Playing Game Universe called Firesoul. When I started out, I didn’t have high hopes. Sometimes those books can be hit or miss. Well, this one was a hit. It’s set in the southern jungles which immediately makes it something different. It features a girl whose loses everything and her quest for revenge. In the process she meets and becomes friends with a group of Northern Adventurers. The dynamics between the characters is well done and the villains are suitably evil but with a realistic purpose.
I’ll end as always with a preorder update. We’re up to 874 on The Great Northern War. Thanks for all your support.
Talk to you tomorrow.
