Hey guys,
I’ve noticed something interesting since I started writing full time, I don’t read as much as I used to. Before I became a professional writer, I would read a couple books a week easy. Lately I’ve been down to a couple books a month. I just find my brain gets fried from working on my own stories and I’d rather watch YouTube videos at night. But that’s not so good for a writer as I need to keep studying to improve my craft and refill the inspiration bin.
So, to combat my natural tendencies, I’ve started a reading journal with a goal to read at least 50 pages a day. I actually started last week, but I’m making July 1 the official start of the challenge. every morning I’m going to post on here my pages read and my pages written along with the books I’m writing and reading. This is to provide me with a source of accountability, you guys, but I hope you’ll join me by posting your own pages read in the comments so we can cheer each other on or commiserate when we fall short of our goals.
Here we go. My numbers for July 1
Reading: Echo Burning by Lee Child – 59 Pages
Writing: The Divine Key Awakens – 6 pages
One last thing. When I finish a book, I’ll also post a review both here and on my YouTube channel.
See you tomorrow,
James
Great idea! I’ve been reading on my kindle and I try to read a little each day. Its relaxing, even when reading horror. It gives your mind the opportunity to be in a different reality. So relaxing. Keep up the good work! I have to get back to my book now…
Glad you like it Marie. I hope you’ll stop by again to share your progress and what you’re reading.
