So is it just me, or does it seem like time has suddenly sped up? For awhile, when the pandemic started, it felt like the days just dragged on and on. Now Summer seems to be flying by. The days are getting noticeably shorter and the campaign ads more frequent. And no, I’m not going to talk about politics on here. Even though I’m a bit of a political junky, I prefer to keep my thoughts on the current state of the world, at least beyond publishing and entertainment, to myself. Heaven knows there are enough other places you can go to argue about the elephants and the donkeys, no need to do it here.
I don’t have a ton to report. I’m still waiting for my proof copies to arrive from the printer. Hopefully today, but I’m not holding my breath. Audio production doesn’t start until September. My editor doesn’t get started on book 5 until next Monday. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, publishing is a game of hurry up and wait. You need two things to succeed, patience and a thick skin. Seriously, if you can’t take people telling you the novel you spent months slaving over is a steaming pile of crap, you’re in the wrong business.
Anyway, I managed a solid 5 pages yesterday on book 6. I know I said I had a handle on it, but now I’m not so sure. Time will tell.
Finally a preorder update. We’re up to 728 on The Great Northern War. Thanks everyone for your support. There’s still three weeks before it goes live and I’d love to get over 1,000.
Talk to you tomorrow.
