Yesterday was supposed to be the last day of our heat wave. I really hope so. On my brief trip outside I was plastered in sweat after two minutes. Absolutely miserable let me tell you. Despite the weather, I actually made quite a bit of progress on various things. But not everything.
Now, if you like frustration, have I got a game for you. It’s called try and get a hold of an actual person on the phone at the NYS DMV. See, because of the lockdown, the actual DMV isn’t open except by appointment. They recommend handling your business online. Of course, what I needed to do couldn’t be done online. They provide three numbers, bless their hearts, and I got hung up on by a computer on all three. You can’t even leave a message. It just says try again later, goodbye. And it says it that smug computer voice. I know it’s a machine, but I think it enjoys hanging up on humans. I’m pretty sure this is how Skynet got started.
Since I didn’t want to throw my phone across the room, I gave up after three tries.
Anyway, on the positive side, the paperback version of The Hidden Tower as been approved. Hopefully it will show up for sale soon. I also got a selection of narrates to chose from for the audiobook. Three of them are very good, so choosing won’t be easy. I hope to get sample by the end of the week then I’ll have to decide.
Even with all the other stuff, I managed 3 pages on the new book. Not great, but not horrible.
Finally I’ll end with a preorder update. The Great Northern War is up to 190. Thanks everyone for your support.
Talk to you tomorrow.
