The heat and humidity continued for another day. To call it miserable would be an understatement. The only saving grace is that my air conditioner is working. It’s crapped out enough times that I don’t take the for granted. It was a quiet day save for a few rumbles of thunder in the afternoon that brought no rain or relief.
On the plus side, these quiet days make it easy to get my writing done and I managed 6 more pages on the new novel.
Now a few updates. The paperback version of The Hidden Tower is still awaiting approval on the printer’s end. Hopefully that happens by the end of the week, but it’s out of my control
I’m also waiting on audio samples so I can select someone to start the Audiobook. Again, out of my control.
I read an article in the Wall Street Journal yesterday about Bob Dylan that I think any creative person could benefit from. The author talks about how sometimes even he didn’t know why he wrote a particular song. That they just came to him. I feel like my stories come to me the same way, Dylan always tried to be true to his creative voice even when that proved unpopular. I needed hear that.
Another important quote came from Johnny Cash defending Dylan’s sometimes unpopular choices. Johnny said no one should tell a man what to do, especially an artist. I think that’s been lost lately and it’s important to remember.
So to any artists reading this, remember, stay true to what you want to create. That’s all you can control. Some might love what you do and some might hate it. And that’s okay. We’re all free people.
I’ll end as usual with a preorder update. The Great Northern War has reached 145 preorders. Thanks everyone for your support.
Talk to you tomorrow.
