So yesterday was one of those rare April days when the sun was out, the temperatures were warm, and there was no wind to cut through your enjoyment. I spent a little time out in the yard just walking around and enjoying the day. Since we only get about two of them a month I figured I’d better take advantage.
I’ll tell you a weird thing I’ve noticed. When I go to the post office in the morning and no one else is there so I don’t have to put on a mask to go in, it makes me happier than it should. Yesterday was one of those days. It was great.
When I got home I watched a video on YouTube. It was an interview with two of my favorite strength athletes, Brian Shaw and Hafthor Bjornsson. While the interview itself was great, what I saw in the comments interested me as a writer. Someone counted how many time Hafthor said “You Know” and how many times Brian said, “Perfect” They were like verbal tics that I doubt the guys were even aware of. I thought that was the sort of thing I could include in dialogue to make a character unique. I’d never really thought about it before.
Anyway, after lunch I got to writing and had a good day, six pages done on the new project.
