Overlord Volume 1 Review - James E. Wisher

Overlord Volume 1 Review

The Day – 11-15-20

Most of the day was quiet then we got a nasty windstorm in the evening. After doing my morning business stuff, I settled in to read. I always love reading books that have been adapted into other media. It’s interesting to see what they decide to put in, leave out, and add on.

After lunch and an episode of The Repair Shop, I made an apple pie. That turned out really good, though it isn’t going to help with my diet.

Finally, I made it my writing desk around 2:00 and managed a solid 5 pages.

Only one small update today. The Heart of Alchemy is uploaded to all the big retailers and available for preorder everywhere except Apple Books. No idea why, but they are always the last ones to go live.

Overlord Vol 1 Review

Most of you are probably more familiar with the anime of the same name. This is the light novel from which it was adapted. I read the book in a day and a half and loved it. It follows the anime almost exactly save for a few extra scenes. My favorite bit is how well it captures the hero’s anxiety about his new situation.

For those of you unfamiliar, this story is about a regular guy who gets shifted into the body of his RPG characters and transported to a fantasy world. A couple things make this one different than most. First, his body is that of a monster, an elder lich to be exact. And second, he’s the leader of a guild and retains the loyalty of the guilds many powerful minions. Basically he plays a villain rather than a hero. Which is fun

The first book covers the anime episodes up to the main character’s battle with the summoned angels.

Anyway, if you like Isakai stories, this is a great one. It gets a recommend from me.

Finally a preorder update. The Master of Magic is up to 1279 with 18 days to go. Thanks everyone.

Talk to you tomorrow.
