The Day – 10-7-20

Finally, a quiet day. I had no appointments or errands to distract me. It felt really good. I spent the morning working on two writing classes I’m taking this month and planning out a video.

After a nice lunch and an episode of Rust Valley Restorers, I got started recording the video I planned. It was just a short talk about The Great Northern War. This is my fourth video and I’ve reached the point where I can record one without feeling like I’m going to throw up. I’m calling that progress. Now I need to figure out how to make them longer. I still haven’t managed to go over 4 minutes. Heaven knows how some YouTubers can go on for like fifteen or twenty minutes.

Anyway, I made it to my writing desk about 2:00 and managed a solid 5 pages. It felt good to get back on track.

During the evening I proofed about 15 chapters of The Great Northern War audiobook. It sounds really good. I think you guys will enjoy it.

Priest

I watched this movie just the other day. It follows a warrior priest on his quest to rescue his niece who’s been kidnapped by vampires. The plot is pretty standard. If you haven’t seen the movie, I won’t spoil it for you. There’s also a comic book, but I haven’t read that yet.

What I like most about this movie is the setting. It reminds me a little of Judge Dread. Most of the humans living in huge cities overseen by the church which is portrayed as omnipresent and fanatical. Propaganda plays on video screens all the time.

Out in the wilds, a few small towns of brave humans try to scratch out a living by reclaiming the poisoned earth while fighting off vampire attacks.

It’s a cool movie. I give it a recommend.
