Happy October - James E. Wisher

Happy October

The Day – 9-30-20

Yesterday was a good day. Though it didn’t start that way. We had a lot of rain in the morning and the garbage man left the lid of the can when he emptied it. Needless to say, I ended up with a couple inches of rain in the can. Not fantastic, but it’s plastic, so whatever. After a delicious lunch of homemade pancakes and ham, I got to my writing desk around 1:00 and managed 4 more pages on the new novel.

Part way through I was interrupted, but for a good thing. Someone came to look at the house I have for sale. No word yet if they’re interested, but after two weeks of nothing, it was nice to see someone looking at least.

Monsterfest

Since it’s October, I thought it might be fun to do a series of posts discussing monsters and horror. I’ll be doing some videos on the subject as well with you’ll be able to find on my Youtube channel or my Facebook page.

Might as well start with my favorite, Vampires. Not the sparkly kind either. I prefer my vampires in two varieties, savage and violent or sexy and seductive. And yes, when I say that second one, I’m totally talking about Selene from Underworld.

One thing I absolutely hate is silly horror comedy. Unless Bruce Campbell is in it. In which case I’ll overlook all sins. I just can’t wrap my head around that particular mashup. A funny quip here and there to lighten the mood is fine, but once your monster has met Abbot and Costello, you’ve gone too far.

I think what I’ll do is focus on one vampire franchise per day for this week. If you have a favorite, let me know in the comments and I’ll include it.

Let’s end with a preorder update. The Portal Thieves is up to 1,292. That’s five above The Great Northern War and we still have a week to go before release. Thanks so much everyone for getting us over the hump. Hopefully, The Master of Magic does even better.

Talk to you tomorrow.
