Weekly Writing Update October 22 – October 28

Hello everyone,

Halloween is fast approaching and then it will be a mad rush to the holidays. I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge fan of this time of year. I don’t decorate and I hate parties. The outside light stays off on Halloween night. Not that it would matter since you seldom see trick or treaters anymore.

I can remember going out when I was a kid. One year it was so cold I had to wear my winter jacket the whole time, taking it off just long enough to run from the car to the next house to get my candy.

Pretty sure that was the last year I went out.

The truth is I enjoyed handing out candy with my grandmother far more than I ever did going out myself. The fact that I got all the leftovers probably helped. : )

Do you have a favorite Halloween story? If so I’d love to hear it.

The next livestream is this Sunday at 4:00 PM EST. I’d love to see you there. I’ll be showing off my first ever piece of fan art. Here’s the link.  https://youtu.be/ldBvjuqOxvM

Thanks for reading and I’ll talk to you again next week.

James

  1. Halloween has been my favorite holiday since conception. The costumes, the frights, general spookiness and also the onset of real fall weather. Not to mention the candy.

One of my aunts always got the kids a Halloween costume, normal dime store fare from a place in town called Rose’s, long out of business now. When I was 12 she gave me a Jolly Green Giant costume. Really. The kids attending the scary movie party at the library were justifiably merciless. It almost led to me getting the nickname Jolly Green Booger. But I will fight anyone so that died pretty quickly. I was traumatized, but also inspired. I decided that year that I was responsible for my costumes from then on. Which has led to a lot of cosplay creations for me and my son.
