The Great Reading Challenge Day 62 August 31

Morning everyone,

Well yesterday was an absolutely crap day all around. Midmorning I had to be at the Chamber of Commerce to get my health insurance situation sorted out. It did not go well. 45 minutes on the phone with New York State had me wanting to bang my head on the desk until I was knocked out. And in the end, I’m still not sure it’s sorted. We’ll see.

After that painful hour and a half I had a tasty lunch at a diner I hadn’t visited since I was a kid. At the grocery store they’d restocked some shelves but others remained sad and empty. No idea what the problem is so I’m going to blame Covid. Everything’s Covid’s fault, right?

When I got home I had a message from another government official, this one local. Of course, when I called back, she’d already gone home for the day. Turns out our local tax collector is only in the office three days a week for two hours at a time. Terribly convenient that.

I didn’t make it to the writing computer until 3:30 and my brain took one look at the screen and said nope. So I played video games instead.

Update time.

Reading: 21 pages. I finally started a new novel, but had only a little better luck concentrating on that than I did my writing.

Writing: Zip

Talk to you tomorrow.

James
