The Day - 7-1-20 - James E. Wisher

The Day – 7-1-20

I’ve been on a run of quiet days, which suits me very well indeed. I can see my schedule going forward and I know that’s about to end. I’ve got a window that needs fixing at my rental, and a bunch of first of the month errands to run. Which is fine. Other than the window, this happens every month. That’s why it’s important to take advantage of the quiet days. Like yesterday when I got 7 pages written on the new novel. I’m so close to the end I can taste it.

No updates to today, just more waiting.

I wanted to take moment to talk about two of my favorite things, Anime and Manga. I enjoy both a great deal along with the light novels that often serve as their basis. Lately it seems cancel culture has turned its ugly gaze on them. The stories and the art are problematic they say. Let me tell you, if there was ever a phrase I hated, that was it. There was one artist who does gorgeous pin up work featuring famous female anime characters. She got a bunch of grief because apparently her women are too pretty. Or something.

I don’t know. It’s all stupid to me. Bitching about what an artist creates is crazy. If you don’t like it, don’t look at it. Same with movies and books. Not everything is to everyone’s taste. Read or watch what you like and let others do the same in peace. How hard it that?

Really hard apparently since there are plenty of people out there that won’t let people enjoy whatever they like if it’s problematic according to them and their idiotic world view. As far as I’m concerned, read and watch what makes you happy. Heaven knows life is hard enough right now without worrying about what comics someone is reading.

Okay, rant over.

Let’s talk preorders. We’re up to 326 on The Great Northern War and plenty of people have taken advantage of the early launch on Payhip. So thanks everyone for that.

Talk to you tomorrow.
